179 days to go 2

My black belt test is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2010. I’ve been working toward it since late 2001. Yesterday, with 180 days to go, I decided to increase the intensity of my workouts. In fact, I’m typing this from my elliptical in my basement gym. I’m making a public commitment here on my blog to do at least 1 hour of additional elliptical training a day, on top of my current six-day-a-week workout schedule. I’m going to take my workouts, along with my nutrition, to the next level.

We’re at Karate DEFCON 3.

  • And, how are you doing with your November committment? Have you been faithful to the hour a day of extra training? what percentage have you been able to actually do? If you have no one or some thing to answer to what is the consequence for poor execution of this idea? I may suggest you “put your money where your mouth is” pay an outsider x number of dollars each week you fall below a certain level of committment. and make it an amount worthy of your committment and status.

  • Hi, Ricki! I think I’m doing great on my November committment. I’m in class Mon, Wed, Fri, and have been coming every Saturday I’m not in Utah. I’ve got a trainer coming to the house for an hour on Tue, Thur, and Sat to do an hour of training. And in addition to all of this, my goal is to be on the elliptical (or some other form of cardio) for an hour every day – and I’d say that I’m hitting it at least 75% of the time. The only days I miss it are if I’m sick, or if I need some extra recovery from the workouts. My trainer also cooks all my meals ahead of time, and I just heat and eat. I already AM putting my money where my mouth is: dojo fees, training fees, and food costs. 🙂
